Drivers Training
Our driving education program consists of three 2-hour driving lessons, with free pick up and drop off from home, school, work, or wherever suits the student’s schedule. We space the lessons out a bit to give students practice time between driving lessons. Our lesson plans vary depending on the needs of each student, and we focus on teaching safe driving at the student’s pace, not ours.
Lesson #1
In driving education, it's essential to understand vehicle orientation, which includes the proper use of turn signals, emergency flashers, defrosters, and the parking brake. Familiarize yourself with identifying and locating speed limit signs. Practice breaking smoothly to a complete stop and accelerating smoothly, as these are key components of safe driving. Learn about limit lines and how to utilize crosswalks at a blind intersection where visibility is limited to 200 feet in either direction. Understand the different types of intersections, including two-way, four-way stops, roundabouts, and both controlled and uncontrolled intersections. When turning, be aware of right turn lanes, left turn lanes, and center turn lanes. Scanning for potential hazards is crucial in defensive driving, as is identifying lane markings, signs, and signals. Pay attention to lane position, lane changes, and how to correctly execute right and left turns at stop signs, traffic lights, and yield-only intersections during your driving lessons.
Lesson #2
Verify that the driving education from lesson 1 continues to be applied correctly, including understanding one-way streets, navigating double turn lanes, safely using the freeway, and adhering to rules at railroad crossings, with special attention to emergency vehicles and school buses. Additionally, ensure proper parking techniques in parking lots and curbside parking are emphasized in the driving lessons.
Lesson #3
Review the training points from driving education lessons 1 and 2 to ensure they are used properly. Use the official mock practice DMV Drive Test to identify any issues that may arise. This includes a detailed explanation of everything involved in the DMV behind the wheel test, along with a practice test to pinpoint any concerns. After reviewing the test score, focus on practicing any issues from the test and specific maneuvers that students may not feel confident with. This way, the student has the best chance of passing the driving test the first time, promoting safe driving habits.
